A little about the project:
When I set out to write/draw Head Lopper, I had to decide what it was that I wanted to highlight about a “barbarian” story. One of the major things was setting.
Until HEAD LOPPER, the books I had worked on were set in “unnatural” places. Be it urban or science-fiction, I had drawn NO nature. I really wanted to draw some lines that were NOT straight.
This story takes place on the Island of Barra, and issue one takes place in the town of Castlebay. A very real place. I chose this place so I could spend research time looking at real Scottish landscapes and castles. Such fun stuff to draw. But I didn’t want the entire story to be on rocky shores, so here is a page where we get to see a mirky bog.
Now it should be mentioned, I make no attempt to make this accurate, be it geographically or historically. It’s just a mush of stuff I think is cool, and thus, pure fiction
Hope you enjoy! -AM
PS Check out Mike Spicer’s colors in panel one!

“‘Kindness’ covers all of my political beliefs. No need to spell them out. I believe that if, at the end, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn’t always know this and am happy I lived long enough to find it out.”
Threw these up on my deviantArt page ( jasontormos.deviantart.com )
Thanks for looking :)
